PP 15 INTERLUDE

During college, I gained my fascination with fight scenes in film. I would constantly research them and see what made them work and eventually decided I wanted to make one myself.
With this short, something I wanted to practice was cutting to the beat so I knew I needed to find a good song, once I landed on 'PP 15 INTERLUDE' by Night Lovell I started choreographing the fight. What was nice is it had some intense beats that I thought would be nice to sync with the fight, so I put together a loop and worked out when punches would land. By the time editing came around it was super helpful as these hits were pre synced and timed nicely with the video.
This was also my first time incorporating SFX makeup into a production. I feel it really added to the gritty atmosphere I was looking for and helped sell some of the hits. As you'll see from my other work this was only the start of what would eventually become a journey of SFX becoming more and more complex in my films. From a follow up fight using a staple gun to the head to a severed head in the fridge. I really enjoyed these physical visuals and am absolutely fascinated by the work and dedication it takes to create them.
